Travis Scheaffer’s medical malpractice suit against St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton and Larry Reed, M.D. will be in court June 29 on defendant's motion to dismiss the suit.
Scheaffer claims in September 2002, Reed failed to recognize that an x-ray of his right hand and wrist showed a fracture of the scaphoid bone.
According to Scheaffer, Reed also failed to dictate that there was a fracture of the right wrist and failed to inform the treating physician at St. Anthony’s that there was a fracture.
Scheaffer claims as a result of Reed’s alleged negligence he sustained serious bodily injury, including pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of a normal life, and was caused to incur additional medical treatment and expenses, including surgery.
Represented by Thomas Falb of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson of Alton, Scheaffer is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 plus all costs of the suit.
Reed will be represented by Peter Spataro of Moser & Spararo of St. Louis.
Madison County Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian will hear the motion at 10 a.m. in Courtroom 351.
