The widow of a man who succumbed to coronary artery disease filed a wrongful death suit against Family Medicine Associates of Collinsville and Michael Rallo, M.D. in Madison County Circuit Court June 1.
Jennifer Westerhold claims her late husband was examined by Rallo on Feb. 16, 2004, complaining of chest pain, arm pain, dizziness and shortness of breath. She claims Rallo was negligent for not ordering an electrocardiogram (EKG) and stress test.
“Westerhold’s husband was not diagnosed with coronary artery disease and was denied the appropriate interventions resulting in his death on July 10, 2004,” the complaint states.
Westerhold claims she and her three minor children have been deprived of her husband's companionship and society.
She is seeking an amount in excess of $50,000 which will reasonably and adequately compensate Eric Westerhold's heirs.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian. Westerhold is represented by Gerald Montroy of East St. Louis.
