Wal-Mart customer sustains injuries from foreign substance on floor

Wood River WalMart

Mega retailer Wal-Mart is being sued by a customer who injured herself during an encounter with a "foreign substance" on the floor of a Wood River store.

Ella Walker filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court May 24, seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for injuries she sustained on June 14, 2003.

According to the complaint, Wal-Mart was negligent by allowing a wet and slippery floor to remain on its premises, failing to keep the floors dry, and failing to post signs in order to warn people of the dangerous conditions.

Walker claims due to the alleged negligence she suffered significant internal and external injuries, suffered a loss of earning capacity, pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages, and disability and disfigurement.

She is represented by East Alton attorney Lon Weaver. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Andy Matoesian.
