The First Tuesday’s Club, an organization dedicated to studying the U.S. Constitution, will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 5 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Edwardsville.
Discussion of religion and incorporation clauses of the First and Fourteenth Amendment will continue, taking up questions such as:
Can local government display nativity scenes or Menorah’s at Christmas?
How about prayer at graduation ceremonies?
Can a student religious club meet after school on school premises?
Case assignment include: McGowan v. Maryland, Engel v. Vitale, Walz v. Tax Commission, Wisconsin v. Yoder, McDaniel v. Paty, Stone v. Graham, Marsh v. Chambers.
