John Michelman v. American Steel

  • A case management conference (CMC) was held on March 7 by Circuit Judge Philip Kardis. Another CMC was set for March 31 at 8:30 a.m. in Granite City in this retaliatory discharge case.

    John West v. Ken’s Auto Sales
  • A CMC was held on March 7 by Judge Kardis; a discovery schedule was set and a non-jury trial date of Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. was also set in Granite City. Ken’s Auto Sales filed a motion to dismiss the case, which is still pending, with no hearing date set.

    James Hartmann v. CSX Transportation
  • Defendants' motion to compel the deposition of Dr. Schreiber was called and heard by Judge Byron; motion was denied. The plaintiff also filed a notice of videotaped evidence deposition.

    Glen Ahlers ind. And on behalf v. Ford Motor Company
  • Ford filed a motion to transfer venue; a hearing will be held by Judge Kardis on July 21 at 9 a.m. in Granite City. Ahlers, in response to Ford’s motion, filed evidence and exhibits why the case should stay.

    Kenneth Sly v. Norfolk Southern Railway
  • Norfolk’s motion to dismiss based on forum non conveniens was denied by Judge Andy Matoesian and a civil jury trial was set for May 15, 2006.

    Elizabeth Prohaska v. Abbott Laboratories et.al.
  • A motion to transfer based on forum non conveniens with joint memo of law was filed by Merck, Abbott, SmithKline, Sigma-Aldrich Dow Chemical and Eli Lilly, and heard by Circuit Judge Daniel Stack. A ruling has not yet been made in the case.
