Religion clauses taken up again at 'First Tuesdays'

"If nowhere else, in the relation between Church and State, 'good fences make good neighbors'."
Felix Frankfurter

Religion clauses of the First Amendment will continue to be discussed at the next "First Tuesdays Club" gathering.

And, those who attend the club's next open-to-the-public meeting at 7 p.m., March 1 at St. John's United Methodist Church in Edwardsville, will serve as U.S. Supreme Court Justices.

"President" Tad Armstrong, founder of the club--which is dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of U.S. law--challenges "students" to think as a high court juror would in deciding case law. Students will consider a hypothetical case involving a clash between a religious group that practices animal sacrifice (of chickens) and a Kentucky highway patrolman.
