Kameier ROI and Metro East targets

Supreme Court candidate Lloyd Karmeier

Polls and reports from the field indicate that those backing Lloyd Karmeier for Illinois Supreme Court Justice may be in for a good return on investment.

A poll conducted last week showed Karmeier ahead of his rival, 5th Appellate Court Judge Gordon E. Maag, by several points in a mega-million dollar race that has set a new U.S. record.

More recently, a Democratic source inside the Madison County Administration Building indicated a widespread belief that Karmeier will be celebrating on Election night.

In St. Clair County, a high level Republican said "Democrats are scared they're going to lose."

Tomorrow's hard-core action will take place in 80 St. Clair County and 44 Madison County precincts, where voter fraud is expected to be choked by Illinois Republican Party-paid poll watchers. The precincts are described by an insider as "bad (expletive)."

For the first time in decades, the state party is giving the appearance that it is serious about snuffing out fraud. Illinois Republican Party chairman and State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka visited East St. Louis last week announcing the party's vigilance in eradicating voter fraud.

Topinka has called on state's attorney, U.S. attorneys and U.S. marshalls to help ensure a fair election in southern Illinois.

A source close to the Illinois Republican Party said Cairo and Mt. Vernon are other southern Illinois cities targeted by the party for voter fraud.
