Hand injury trial v. Ace set to begin

While shopping for landscaping stones at Ace Hardware in Bethalto on April 2, James Kannall, of Edwardsville, says one of the stones fell off the display onto his hand and fingers, severely and permanently injuring him.

Represented by Bob Perica of the Alton law firm Hoefert and Perica, Kannall, who is seeking damages damages in excess of $50,000, claims that Ace was negligent in failing to properly secure the stone that fell on him to the display.

Madison County Circuit Judge George Moran will preside over a jury trial James Kannall v. Ace Hardware of Bethalto, Oct. 18 in Room 328.

Kannall also claims that Ace failed to restrict customers from the display when Ace allegedly knew the display posed a danger to customers.

During trial, Perica will try to convince jurors that Kannall will be hindered from attending his usual affairs of life and that he lost and will continue to lose the value of time.

Ace Hardware, located at 1 Airway Dr. in Bethalto, will be represented by the Glen Carbon firm of Knapp, Ohl and Green.
