Passenger sues driver of oncoming vehicle for allegedly causing collision

A St. Clair County woman is suing the driver of another vehicle for crossing the center line and allegedly causing a collision.

Petra Osborn filed a lawsuit on April 20 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Michael B. Williams III, alleging negligence in a 2013 motor vehicle accident.

According to the complaint, on April 27, 2013, Osborn was a passenger in a car traveling west on state Route 15 near Demazenod Drive in the township of Stookey when Williams, traveling east on the same road, crossed the center line and collided with Osborn’s vehicle, causing her personal injury.

Osborn cites Williams for acts of omission or negligence in his failure to keep a proper lookout, maintain a safe speed and proper distance from other vehicles, brake to avoid collision and drive on the correct side of the road.

The plaintiff alleges bodily injuries to her chest, shoulder and back, past and future pain and suffering, disability and medical expenses.

Osborn seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney John Hustava of Collinsville.
