Granite City woman sues bar, owners, alleging injuries in motorcycle crash

A Granite City woman has sued a Lebanon tavern and its two owners, alleging negligence.

Nicole Maxwell of Granite City filed a lawsuit April 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Brewers Inc. and its owners Yvonne L. Sellers and Yvonne L. Rohr, both of Summerfield, alleging negligence in a 2014 incident.

According to the complaint, on April 19, 2014, Brewers Inc., at 227 W. St. Louis St., over-served alcohol to a customer named Aaron Bailey. The suit says Bailey became intoxicated on the premises, then lost control of his motorcycle while driving, striking a curb, sliding off the road and flipping several times, injuring Maxwell.

Maxwell claims severe external and internal injuries, including damage to her nervous system. The plaintiff claims pain and anguish, medical expenses, lost wages and earning capacity and invokes the Dram Shop Act.

Maxwell seeks judgment in an amount deemed appropriate by the court, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Patrick Johnston of Johnston Law Offices in Edwardsville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-217.
