Construction company, employee sued over I-64 accident

A St. Clair County woman and her insurance company have sued a man and a construction company, alleging injuries in an auto accident.

State Farm Mutual Insurance Co., on behalf of Cynthia R. Tuggle, filed a lawsuit April 7 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ernest D.L. Robinson and Slack Demolition Construction.

According to the complaint, on April 15, 2013, Tuggle, with a State Farm policy, was driving her 2012 Chevy Traverse on Interstate Highway 64, near St. Clair Avenue in St. Clair County, when a Slack Demolition Construction 2006 Dodge Ram truck driven by Robinson was traveling in the same location and direction. The suit states an accident happened because Robinson failed to control his vehicle, operated his truck at an unsafe speed, didn't maintain the proper lookout and failed to reduce his speed in time to avoid the crash.

The plaintiffs cite injuries and medical expenses.

Tuggle seeks $61,541.75 in damages, plus costs. The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Harry Ray Chiles Jr. of Chiles and Associates in Wheaton.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-198.
