Motorist cited for for allegedly causing crash

A man involved in a motorcycle crash and his wife have sued the woman allegedly responsible for the accident.

William and Jessica Beers filed a lawsuit filed March 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Laurie Wallace.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 29, 2014, Willaim Beers was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle on state Highway 127, approaching Ava Road and, at the same time, Wallace was driving her 2004 Chevy Cavalier on Ava Road approaching Highway 127.

The suit says, Wallace caused the two vehicles to crash by carelessly and negligently failing to keep a proper look out, failing to stop at the stop sign and striking Beers.

The plaintiff cites severe injury, pain, suffering, anguish, disability, disfigurement, lost wages and income in the future and past and extensive medical expenses.

William Beers seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. His wife, citing loss of consortium, also seeks in excess of $50,000, plus costs. They are represented by attorney Samantha S. Unsell of Keefe and Keefe in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-145.
