Suit filed over Route 157 accident

A Madison County woman is suing a driver, citing negligence in an auto accident.

James Pidgeon filed a lawsuit April 8 in Madison County Circuit Court, against Jennifer Peterson.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 10, 2014, Pidgeon was driving north on the south access, approaching the intersection of State Access Road and state Route 157, while Peterson was driving west on state Route 157 at the intersection with South Access Road. The suit says Peterson turned at the red light and struck Pidgeon's vehicle.

Peterson is cited for: failing to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles; striking Pidgeon's vehicle; failing to properly apply her brakes; disregarding an official traffic control device; and failing to operate her vehicle within her lane of traffic.

Pidgeon was "made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered extensive injuries to the head, body and limbs, both internally and externally," the lawsuit says.

Pidgeon seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Marleen M. Suarez of Collinsville.

Madison County Circuit Court, case number: 15-L-445.
