A woman allegedly given the wrong prescription is suing the pharmacy and pharmacist that provided the medication.
Patricia Pressman filed a lawsuit on April 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, against Hideg Pharmacy Inc. and Donald Johnston.
According to the complaint, on April 24, 2014, Pressman was prescribed hydralazine, which was supposed to be filled at Hideg that same day, but pharmacist Johnston mis-filled the prescription with haloperidol. This medication was taken the same day to Pressman at her nursing home, the suit says.
The suit says the mistake, "caused harm and illness to [Pressman], which resulted in subsequent hospitalization." The plaintiff cites bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of capacity and medical expenses.
Pressmann seeks damages of $100,000, $50,000 from each of the defendants, including costs. She is represented by attorney Dominic Kujawa of Belleville.
