Motorist alleges permanent injuries in O'Fallon collision

A St. Clair County motorist is suing another driver for permanent injuries resulting from an O'Fallon collision.

Christopher Rolves filed a lawsuit on April 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Dakota Cloud, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on May 8, 2013, Rolves was driving north on North Greenmount Road, north of W. U.S. Highway 50 in O'Fallon, and Cloud also was driving north on North Greenmount Road.

The suit says Cloud failed to stop or swerve at the appearance of danger to avoid collision, was unable to keep the vehicle under sufficient control, was driving at a speed that was "greater than reasonable and proper," didn't keep an adequate lookout ahead and to the side, failed to equip his vehicle with adequate brakes and failed to decrease his speed to avoid colliding with Rolves.

As a result, Rolves suffered severe and permanent injuries, the suit states.

Rolves seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs. He is represented by attorney Kenneth B. Beljanski of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights.
