Missouri women sue trucking company in rig crash

Two Missouri women are suing a trucking company and its employee for allegedly causing a rear-end collision.

Missouri residents Michelle Orf and Laura King filed a lawsuit on March 16 in Madison County Circuit Court against Central Trucking Inc. of Indiana, and David Rogers, alleging negligence in a 2013 auto accident.

According to the complaint, on March 24, 2013, Rogers was operating a tractor-trailer as an employee for Central Trucking when he rear-ended the vehicle Orf and King were riding in as passengers.

The plaintiffs accuse the defendants of inattentiveness, excess speed, following too closely and failing to take actions to avoid collision.

According to the lawsuit, Rogers: failed to keep a careful lookout, came into contact with the rear of the plaintiffs’ vehicle and knew or should have known there was a likelihood of collision in sufficient time to have slowed, stopped, swerved, sound a warning and otherwise avoid the accident.

The plaintiffs claim they suffered serious injuries and medical expenses.

Orf and King seek damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. They are represented by attorney Lanny Darr of Schrempf, Kelly, Napp & Darr in Alton.
