Texas woman seeks $4.5M from pharmaceutical firms over Xarelto prescription

A Texas woman is suing pharmaceutical companies for injuries allegedly suffered after being prescribed the drug Xarelto.

According to a lawsuit filed March 26 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Lola Daniel is suing Janssen Research and Development LLC, Janssen Ortho LLC, Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Pharma AG, Bayer Corp., Bayer Healthcare LLC, Bayer Healthcare AG and Bayer AG.

Daniel is suing "for personal injuries and economic damages suffered as a result of a defective and dangerous pharmaceutical product, Xarelto (rivaroxaban), which was designed, researched, developed, manufactured, tested, labeled, advertised, marketed, promoted, distributed and sold by defendants and defendants representatives," the suit states.

Daniel seeks damages in excess of $4.5 million, plus costs.

The plaintiff is represented by John J. Driscoll of the Driscoll Firm of St. Louis.
