FedEx and Countryside Deliveries sued in Alton collision

A woman is suing two courier companies and their driver, alleging negligence in a 2014 traffic collision.

Amanda Caselli filed her lawsuit on March 20 in Madison County Circuit Court against FedEx Ground Package System Inc., Countryside Deliveries Inc., and Kyle Lankford of Wood River.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 23, 2014, Caselli was traveling eastbound on state Route 143 near the intersection of Lock and Dam Way in Alton when Lankford, an employee of FedEx and Countryside, was driving a vehicle bearing the FedEx insignia westbound on the same road. Caselli claims Lankford collided with her vehicle while attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Lock and Dam Way, causing her injuries.

The suit accuses Lankford of failing to control, steer and brake his vehicle safely to avoid collision, attempting an unsafe turn and failing to yield the right of way.

Caselli sustained injuries to her neck, back and nose. She also claims she suffered physical and mental pain and medical expenses.

Caselli seeks damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Samuel Mormino of Mormino, Velloff & Snider in Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 15-L-366.
