Woman sues man from whom she contracted STD

A woman identified as Jane Doe is suing an Edwardsville man she had sexual intercourse with two years ago claiming she contracted sexually transmitted diseases.

In a suit filed Feb. 27 in Madison County Circuit Court, Doe claims the man caused her to become afflicted with herpes simplex virus type 2 and cervical high risk human papillomavirus (HPV).

She claims he failed to warn her that he had a sexually transmitted disease and failed to use condoms or other protection to prevent the spread of the disease.

She also claims that had she known of his affliction, she would not have had sexual relations with him.

As a result of her affliction, Doe claims she has had to incur medical expenses and has suffered pain and anguish. She also claims that her social life and professional life have been and will continue to be adversely affected .

Doe seeks in excess of $50,000 in damages.

She is represented by James P. Leonard of Fernandez and Leonard in St. Louis.
