A Belleville motorist is being accused of carelessly operating his vehicle without regard for road conditions.
Stephen Bates filed suit against Dennis Conner, Jr. on Feb. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Bates claims that he was westbound on Route 161 near the intersection of Royal Heights Road on Feb. 21, 2013, when Conner lost control of his vehicle and crossed over into plaintiff's lane of travel.
Snow covered the road on the day of the accident, the suit says.
Bates says that he suffered a contusion to his forehead and sustained injuries to his head, neck, back, left shoulder and left elbow, which have caused and will in the future cause expenditures on medical care.
He is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages.
Bates is represented by Michael J. Brunton and Mary M. Stewart of Collinsville.
