Woman sues for injuries sustained in slip outside Schnuck's

A Madison County woman is suing Schnuck Market, Sears Holding Corp. and Madison Plaza Association for injuries she allegedly suffered after slipping on ice outside the supermarket on Homer Adams Parkway in Alton.

Pamela Gordon of Alton alleges that one or all of the defendants failed to maintain their outdoor premises "in a reasonably safe condition," states the lawsuit filed on Feb. 9 by attorneys Donald Ohl and Heather Mueller-Jones, of Knapp, Ohl and Green.

"An unnatural accumulation of ice and snow," the suit alleges, caused Gordon to sustain "severe, permanent and progressive injuries, both externally and internally” that caused disability and loss of work that will continue into the future.

Gordon is seeking in excess of $50,000 in damages, as well as court costs.

Madison County Circuit Court, case no. 15L161.
