The estate of a man killed when a grain elevator door fell on him is suing the companies whose employees were responsible for loading it onto a flatbed trailer.
Richard Tressing was killed on Jan. 5 as he was delivering the door to a facility in Owensboro, Ky.
His next of kin Robyn Wellen filed suit against A&K Rentals of St. Clair County and American Complete Access Hoist and Platform on Feb. 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Tressing had worked as an independent contractor for American Complete Access Hoist and Platform.
He claims the rental company failed to properly secure a heavy and overiszed load onto the trailer.
"That while preparing to unload the hevy door it detached from its bindings and fell on plaintiff, crushing him to death," the suit says.
Wellen seeks in excess of $50,000 in damages.
She is represented by Bruce R. Cook of Belleville.
