A Republican has won a circuit court seat in the Third Judicial Circuit - Madison County.
With all precincts reporting in Madison County, John Barberis received 41,723 votes to Associate Judge Clarence Harrison's 35,114 votes, a margin of 54 to 46 percent.
Harrison, Democrat, announced his candidacy more than a year ago and raised more than $100,000 from individual contributors.
Barberis did not accept campaign contributions.
His win is consistent with a strong Republican showing in Madison County, where Bruce Rauner leads Pat Quinn, 58 to 36 percent.
