Republican Barberis defeats Harrison for circuit court

By Ann Maher | Nov 4, 2014

A Republican has won a circuit court seat in the Third Judicial Circuit - Madison County.

With all precincts reporting in Madison County, John Barberis received 41,723 votes to Associate Judge Clarence Harrison's 35,114 votes, a margin of 54 to 46 percent.

Harrison, Democrat, announced his candidacy more than a year ago and raised more than $100,000 from individual contributors.

Barberis did not accept campaign contributions.

His win is consistent with a strong Republican showing in Madison County, where Bruce Rauner leads Pat Quinn, 58 to 36 percent.
