Rear-end accident on Frank Scott Parkway West leads to suit

A man has filed suit against the driver whom he alleges rear-ended his vehicle.

Michael A. Dill filed a lawsuit Aug. 25 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Kirsten P. Tompkins.

In his complaint, Dill says he was stopped in traffic on Frank Scott Parkway West at Mount Pleasant Road in Belleville on June 19, 2013, when Tompkins, who was driving behind him, rear-ended his vehicle.

Due to the collision, Dill suffered severe and permanent neck and back injuries, endured disability and disfigurement and experienced great physical pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint. He also lost his normal life and earnings and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Dill blames Tompkins for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and his, followed his vehicle too closely, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control drove too fast.

In his complaint, Dill seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Matthew J. Marlen of Belleville will represent Dill.

The case number is St. Clair County Circuit Court case 14-L-603.
