UPS driver's dog injury case in court April 30

A case management conference is set at 9 a.m. on April 30 in a United Parcel Service driver’s lawsuit claiming he hurt his back while trying to protect himself from a dog attack.

Steven Campbell sued Kevin Autenrieb in November in Madison County Circuit Court, claiming the incident occurred in July 2012 while Campbell was trying to deliver a package.

Campbell filed a motion for default judgment on Jan. 21, saying Autenrieb failed to answer the complaint, enter an appearance or plead anything. A week later, attorney Michael P. Murphy of Freeark Harvey and Mendillo entered an appearance for Autenrieb and denied the allegations.

Campbell accuses Autenrieb of negligence and of violating Illinois’ Animal Control Act. He asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills, lost wages and court fees.

Attorneys Charles W. Armbruster and Michael T. Blotevogel of Alton represent Campbell.
