The administrator of a deceased woman’s estate alleges the woman died after doctors failed to diagnose her with a coronary artery disease.
Patrick M. McOwan, as special administrator of the estate of Denise Angela McOwan, filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Michelle M. Babb M.D., Robert G. Lutan M.D., St. Louis Cardiology Consultants LTD. and Alton Multispecialists LTD.
According to the complaint, Denise passed away on May 14, 2012. At the time of her death the defendant doctors were treating her. Babb allegedly failed to diagnose Denise with a coronary artery disease, failed to review an emergency room visit with coronary symptoms, failed to order an evaluation of potential coronary disease and failed to evaluate a patient with an abnormal EKG and abnormal stress test, among other negligent acts, according to the complaint.
Lutan allegedly failed to discuss the abnormal stress test with the ordering physician and failed to recommend a catheterization, the suit states.
Because of Denise McOwan’s death, Patrick McOwan suffered grief and sorrow and has been deprived of her services, companionship, comfort, instruction, guidance, counsel, training, love and support, the suit states.
Patrick McOwan is seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs.
He is being represented by Joseph A. Bartholomew of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville.
