Quincy Bay Bridge worker claims he was pinned in bucket

A construction worker who was allegedly pinned underneath the Quincy Bay Bridge in Quincy has filed suit in Madison County against the operator of a crane that carried a bucket he was in and the project's contractor.

Sharat Menon Radhakrishnan filed a lawsuit Jan. 31  against Modjeski and Masters and Michael Parr.

The suit claims the project was controlled by the Illinois Department of Transportation and that the state's agreement with Modjeski and Masters was executed in Madison County.

In his complaint Radhakrishnan claims he was working in a mobile unit that defendant Michael was operating at the Quincy construction site on May 7, 2012. During the operation of the subject mobile unit device the plaintiff was pinned against the underside of the bridge while in the unit, according to the suit.

Because of the incident, Radhakrishnan suffered various injuries. His wife, co-plaintiff Medha Vijay Raina, claims she lost her husband’s consortium, servces and support.

Radhakrishnan is seeking an unspecified judgment in excess of the jurisdictional minimum.

He is being represented by Edward G. Willer of Corboy and Demetrio in Chicago.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-171.
