Driver failed to yield, woman claims in Edwardsville accident lawsuit

A woman claims she and her minor son suffered various injuries when a driver failed to yield the right-of-way and struck their vehicle.

Alisa C. Perroni filed a lawsuit Jan. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Blake C. Cory.

Perroni claims she and her minor son Jordan R. Sugg were riding in a vehicle traveling north on Illinois Route 157 on April 25, 2012, when the defendant, who was driving near the intersection of Illinois Route 157 and Center Grove Road in Edwardsville, attempted to turn left and struck Perroni’s vehicle.

Because of the collision, Perroni and her son suffered disability and disfigurement, experienced great pain and mental anguish, lost earnings, incurred medical costs and suffered a diminished future earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Perroni blames Cory for causing the collision, saying he failed to yield to her vehicle, drove while distracted, failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a way as to strike her vehicle, failed to reduce his speed to avoid an accident and failed to properly steer.

Perroni is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

She is being represented by Gregory M. Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-152.
