Collinsville accident is subject of suit

A woman has filed suit against the driver she claims caused her to sustain back injuries after he failed to obey a red light and struck her vehicle.

Paula M. Moussette claims she was driving west on Beltline Road in Collinsville when she stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection of Beltline and Greenfield Drive. Suddenly, defendant David B. Jackstadt struck the back of her vehicle, according to the complaint filed Jan. 29 in the Madison County Circuit Court.

Because of the collision, Moussette sustained various injuries, including spinal injuries, that caused her to suffer great pain, the suit states. She also incurred significant medical costs and has been unable to enjoy her normal life activities, according to the complaint.

Mousette blames Jackstadt for causing the collision, saying he failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to obey a red traffic light and drove too fast.

Moussette is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs. She will be represented by Terrence V. O’Leary of Granite City.

Madison County Circuit Court case number 14-L-144.
