Edwardsville movie theater sued over patron's slip on ice

An Edwardsville movie-goer is suing over a slip on ice in January 2012.

Sandra Ussery filed suit in Madison County Circuit Court on Jan. 15, naming American Multi-Cinema Inc., AMC Entertainment Holdings, Kerasotes Showplace Theatres and Realty Income Illinois Properties 3 as defendants.

Ussery says she was attending a movie at the theater located at 6633 Center Grove Road in Edwardsville, when she slipped, fell and was injured. Ussery allegedly slipped on an unnatural accumulation of ice and snow which had fallen from the theatre's roof onto the pedestrian walkway. Ussery claims the theatre was negligent in maintaining the walkways and failed to remove the dangerous and slippery conditions to make it safe for movie goers.

Ussery says she injured her neck and back when she fell and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

She is being represented by attorney John C. Webster of Alton.

Madison County Circuit Court Case No. 14-L-67.
