Collinsville Wal-Mart blamed for man's slip on sponges

A St. Louis County man is suing over claims he sustained injuries as a result of an unsafe walkway in a Collinsville Wal-Mart store.

John Boedecker filed a lawsuit Jan. 8 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., citing negligence.

Boedecker claims on Jan. 10, 2012, he suffered injuries when he slipped and fell down in a grocery store aisle at Wal-Mart, 1040 Collinsville Crossing in Collinsville. According to the brief, there was a package of sponges on the ground in the aisle that Boedecker slipped on, causing him to fracture his shoulder and crack his tooth.

Boedecker is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 and court costs. He is being represented in the case by St. Louis attorney Joseph B. Kloecker Jr. of Codner, Watkins and Kloecker.

Madison County District Court Case No. 14L33.
