A Maryville hospital accused in a Worden man’s lawsuit claiming he slipped and fell on a wet floor has denied the allegations and demanded a trial by jury.
According to the lawsuit filed Nov. 8 against Southwestern Illinois Health Facilities Inc, doing business as Anderson Hospital, Jerry Yeager claims he was visiting the hospital as a patient in November 2011 when the incident occurred. He alleges he slipped on a liquid just outside the hospital room’s bathroom and tore his rotator cuff in the fall.
Anderson Hospital filed its answer on Dec. 16 denying the allegations against it.
The defendant also filed two affirmative defenses claiming the plaintiff’s injuries were a result of his own negligence.
Yeager refuted the affirmative defenses on Dec. 12.
Yeager seeks a judgment of more than $50,000.
