A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign, causing a collision.
Jackie L. Heafner claims she was driving south on North Alby Street near its intersection with East Center Drive in Alton on Dec. 7, 2011, when defendant Doris C. Clark, who was driving a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis west on East Center Drive, failed to stop at a stop sign, causing a collision.
Because of the accident, Heafner suffered severe injuries to her neck, back, head and cervical spine; endured pain and suffering; and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Dec. 5 in Madison County Circuit Court. Heafner also lost her normal life and wages, the suit states.
Clark negligently failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and pulled in front of Heafner’s vehicle, the complaint says.
In her complaint, Heafner is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
