A woman filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her while she was riding on her bicycle, causing her to be thrown and to sustain severe injuries.
Melissa J. West claims she was riding her bicycle east on Frank Scott Parkway East at its intersection with Old Collinsville Road on Sept. 15 when defendant Savon W. Love, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander west on the same road, struck her.
Because of the collision, West was “violently thrown from her bicycle;” received neck, back, head and internal and external organ injuries; and suffered great pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint filed Nov. 22 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She also incurred medical costs and has been unable to pursue her normal activities, the suit states.
Love negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to exercise due care to avoid a collision, the complaint says.
In her complaint, West is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Dominic Kujawa of Belleville will be representing her.
