Suit brought over injuries suffered by children in Granite City accident

A brother and sister from Madison County were allegedly hurt when a car tried to make a left turn in front of the car they were riding in.

Aaron Gardner, on behalf of his minor children, filed a lawsuit Dec. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court against Lacie E. Waltman.

According to the petition, Gardner's children were passengers in a car heading south on Maryville Road in Granite City on April 23. At the same time, Waltman was allegedly driving her car north on Maryville Road. At the intersection of Pontoon Road, Gardner claims Waltman tried to turn left but did not allow oncoming traffic to pass. Tracy Willis, driving the car the Gardner children were riding in, was unable to avoid being hit by Waltman's car, according to Gardner.

Gardner accuses Waltman of negligence and ask for more than $100,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.

He is represented by attorneys Gregory D. Abel, Julie A. Blanks and Craig D. Queen of Decatur.
