A woman has filed suit against her former employer, alleging she was fired after she filed for workers’ compensation benefits.
Dotalese Rulo claims she was working for defendant St. Anthony’s Health Center on May 15, 2012, when she sustained a work-related injury.
Following the injury, Rulo filed for workers’ compensation benefits. However, after she did so, she was terminated on Dec. 18, according to the complaint filed Dec. 2 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of her termination, Rulo lost wages and lost health insurance and vacation and retirement benefits, the suit states.
Rulo says St. Anthony’s Health Center violated the Worker’s Compensation Act when it fired her.
In her complaint, Rulo is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Rhonda D. Fiss of The Law Office of Rhonda D. Fiss in Belleville will be representing her.
