Doctor and physician’s assistant accused of misdiagnosis deny allegations

A doctor and physician’s assistant accused of misdiagnosing a patient with a gastrointestinal disease deny allegations made against them in a St. Clair County lawsuit.

According to the complaint filed Sept. 20, Stan and Angie Weller claim Stan Weller was a patient of defendants Dr. Mark Feldman and Claudia Gallagher when he was allegedly misdiagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and prescribed the corticosteroid Prednisone. Weller claims the defendants failed to order a CT scan and failed to consult with a supervising physician.

The Wellers seek a judgment of more than $300,000.

Feldman and Gallagher answered the complaint on Nov. 4 through James E. Neville of Neville, Richards & Wuller in Belleville denying the allegations against them.

On Nov. 22, the defendants filed a motion for a substitution of judge, which was granted on Nov. 25. St. Clair County Circuit Judge Andrew Gleeson was reassigned the case. Circuit Judge Robert LeChien previously presided over the lawsuit.

Gleeson scheduled a mandatory status conference for Jan. 13, 2014, at 9 a.m.

Thomas Q. Keefe, Jr. of Belleville represents Weller.
