Alton rear-end accident is subject of suit

An Illinois woman says she was hurt when she was rear-ended in Alton by a man allegedly driving with a restricted license.

Nicole Phelps filed a lawsuit against Charles Hodge Nov. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Phelps was driving her Jeep Commander north on North Alby Street in December 2011. She says Hodge was driving directly behind the Jeep in a Ford Ranger. Phelps claims Hodge was driving too fast for the conditions and crashed into the back of her Jeep. Phelps alleges Hodge was cited at the scene for failure to reduce speed and driving with a restricted driving permit.

Phelps accuses Hodge of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, lost wages and court costs. She is represented by attorney Michael P. Glisson of Alton.
