A Madison County woman claims an Illinois doctor for failing to diagnose and treat her diabetes in a timely manner.
Sherri Johnson filed a lawsuit on June 5 in the Madison County Circuit Court against Jowe Y. Hsieh and Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, from Sept. 2007 to June 2013, Johnson sought medical treatment from Hsieh as her primary care physician. Around that same period of time the plaintiff exhibited symptoms of impaired glucose tolerance. The claim states Hsieh failed to properly apply his medical knowledge and skills in determining the cause of Johnson's symptoms and thus timely diagnosing her medical condition of diabetes.
Johnson alleges her doctor's negligence led to substantial pain in both her arms and legs, and risk of infection in her lower extremities which could result in amputation. She is also dealing with current and future medical expenses.
Johnson is seeking damages in excess of $15,000 from each defendant.
Johnson is represented by Robert M. Miller of William M. Wunderlich & Associates in Missouri.
Madison County Circuit Court case number 15-L-731.
