A St. Clair County couple is suing a driver for allegedly causing a rear-end collision.
Cheryl Triefenbach and Leroy Triefenbach of Smithton filed a lawsuit on June 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Megan Hazzard of Smithton, claiming injuries in a collision.
According to the complaint, Cheryl Triefenbach was a passenger in a vehicle being driven in a northerly direction on Green Mount Road near the intersection of Frank Scott Parkway in the village of Shiloh on June 7, 2013. The suit said that the defendant was headed north on the same road and rear-ended the vehicle in which Cheryl Triefenbach was riding, allegedly causing a violent collision.
Accusing the defendant of failing to exercise due care and caution, the complaint alleges failure to reduce speed and failure to drive a vehicle with sufficiently maintained brakes.
The plaintiffs claim Cheryl was thrown about the automobile, incurring injuries to her neck and back. The couple alleges permanent incapacitation, medical expenses, impaired ability to attend to everyday affairs and loss of household services and consortium. The Triefenbachs seek damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorneys’ fees and costs.
They are represented by William D. Stiehl Jr. of Belleville.
