McGuireWoods ranked among the leading law firms for advising clients in M&A transactions in 2023, once again earning high ratings for U.S. M&A deals in year-end league tables published by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), Mergermarket and Bloomberg.
The firm placed 10th in deal volume for M&A transactions targeting U.S. companies, and 11th for deals with any U.S. involvement, in rankings published by LSEG, formerly known as Refinitiv. In Mergermarket’s rankings, the firm placed 10th for U.S. deals and 12th for deals in the Americas. McGuireWoods ranked 17th for U.S. deals in Bloomberg’s year-end report.
Among its notable transactions, McGuireWoods advised Dominion Energy in the $14 billion sale of its three natural gas distribution companies to Enbridge; assisted NRG Energy in the $1.75 billion sale of its ownership stake in a Texas nuclear facility to Constellation Energy; and represented NewMarket Corp. in its $700 million acquisition of AMPAC Intermediate Holdings LLC. In addition, the firm represented metal buildings manufacturer Parkline, a portfolio company of private equity client Summit Park, in its sale to Trachte. McGuireWoods’ M&A and private equity capabilities have earned recognition from Chambers USA and The Legal 500. The firm was a finalist in five award categories, including Law Firm of the Year and M&A Deal of the Year, in the 2023 M&A Advisor Awards, which recognized top corporate transactions and the firms involved in closing them.
