To the editor:

On Tuesday, the Madison County Health Advisory Committee received an update from the health department on how many people have received the most recent covid booster shot.

Statistics from the National Immunization Survey show that 21.8 percent of adults 18 and older have received the booster rolled out in September. Fewer younger people (9.1 percent of ages 18 – 29) have gotten the booster than older people (42.2 percent of 75 and up).

The consensus of committee members is that citizens should exercise their right of “informed consent.”

Where can a person go to get information on the shot?

Not national mainstream or social media.

The only message you hear is “safe and effective.” If you watch NFL football, you have seen Kansas City Chiefs football star Travis Kelce “boosting” the newest Pfizer product – is this shot number seven? – for which he’s paid $20 million.

Kelce was lampooned by another football star – Aaron Rodgers – who called Kelce “Mr. Pfizer.” Rodgers refused any covid shots, as did tennis great Novak Djokovic.

X (Twitter) is largely uncensored – and that’s the accomplishment of billionaire Elon Musk, who bought Twitter in 2022. Tucker Carlson – who was fired by Fox – may be viewed on X / Twitter. In recent years, many alternative news sites have filled the demand for free speech.

This weekend – when you’re watching the Super Bowl – and see the Travis Kelce ad – keep in mind that – as an American – you have the right to “informed consent.”

And remember that Travis Kelce plays for a team in the “Show Me” state; and just up the river, Mark Twain once said, “It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they’ve been fooled.”
