Justice Lisa Holder White and the Illinois Supreme Court have announced the appointment of Caroline Borden Campion as a Circuit Judge in the Tenth Judicial Circuit.
Ms. Borden Campion is being appointed to fill the circuit court vacancy created by the death of Tenth Judicial Circuit Judge Bruce P. Fehrenbacher in November 2023. The appointment of Ms. Borden Campion is effective February 13, 2024, and will conclude December 2, 2024, following the November 2024 general election. Ms. Borden Campion is the only candidate who has filed for nomination in the March primary election. She would then be unopposed by a party candidate in either the primary or general elections. Ms. Borden Campion has served as Stark County State’s Attorney since December 2020 after winning election in November of that year, where she was tasked with prosecuting and charging all criminal cases in Stark County. She previously served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office from 2016 to 2020, and previously practiced at Howard, Habecker and Morris and Hinshaw and Culbertson as an Associate from 2007 to 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Bradley University and earned her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the Southern Illinois University School of Law.
The Tenth Judicial Circuit encompasses five counties: Marshall, Peoria, Putnam, Stark, and Tazewell.
