EDWARDSVILLE - A woman is suing Mac’s Convenience Stores after she allegedly fell on icy pavement at the East Alton Circle K.
Cleo Daisy Johnson filed the complaint in the Madison County Circuit Court against Mac’s Convenience Stores LLC and Minton Outdoor Services Inc, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Johnson was at the East Alton Circle K on Feb. 10, 2019. She claims ice and snow was present on the pavement leading to the building. As she was walking on the pavement, Johnson allegedly stepped on a patch of ice and fell, causing injuries.
Johnson alleges Minton Outdoor Services was contracted to provide snow and ice removal for the convenience store, but it allegedly failed to properly perform its duties and failed to warn individuals of the “slick, icy nature of the pavement.” She adds that the defendants failed to prevent individuals from walking on the ice-covered pavement.
As a result of her fall, Johnson claims she became sick, sore, lame and disordered. She alleges she suffered physical pain and mental anguish and incurred medical expenses for treatment of her injuries.
She seeks compensation in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and all other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Tyson Mutrux of Mutrux Firm LLC in St. Louis.
