BELLEVILLE – A former Green Gene CBD employee claims she was terminated after she reported a manager to the business owner for allegedly overcharging customers.

Plaintiff Taylor Killian filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Green Gene CBD, citing retaliatory discharge.

According to the lawsuit, Killian was an employee of Green Gene CBD in Fairview Heights. Killian alleges that in April 2023, she noticed that her manager was overcharging customers without their knowledge. Killian claims that when she brought up the issue with her manager, the manager said that she often overcharged customers to meet sales quotas. Killian states that she took the issue to the owner, but the owner never followed up on the issue or initiated measures to prevent the manager from continuing to overcharge customers.

Killian claims that soon after making the report to the owner, she was notified by the manager via text message that she was being terminated from her position for inconsistent sales and poor attendance. Killian claims she was actually terminated in retaliation for reporting her manager's actions to the owner.

The lawsuit states Killian has suffered loss of employment, loss of income and benefits, mental anguish and humiliation.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for back pay with interest, punitive damages, attorneys' fees and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Nathan C. Volheim of Sulaiman law Group, LTD in Lombard.
