BELLEVILLE – A Union Pacific Railroad employee has filed a negligence claim after he allegedly fell and injured himself on the job.
Plaintiff Larry Hunt, Jr. filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against defendant Union Pacific Railroad Company, citing negligence.
According to the lawsuit, Hunt was employed by Union Pacific Railroad Company as a conductor. The plaintiff claims that on Dec. 8, 2021, he was on duty and was walking down an embankment. He claims the area had poor footing and lighting, causing him to fall and injure himself.
Hunt claims the defendant failed to provide him with reasonably safe working conditions and failed to provide him a proper walkway to safely perform his duties.
The plaintiff claims he has sustained severe and permanent injuries, which have caused him to experience pain, suffering , mental anguish, and lost wages and benefits. He also alleges his injuries will affect his ability to earn income and enjoy daily life. He adds that he has incurred medical costs and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.
Hunt is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Bartholomew, Shevlin, Cook & Jones, LLP in Belleville and Steven L. Groves of Groves, Powers, LLC in St. Louis.
