BELLEVILLE – A woman has filed a discrimination lawsuit claiming she was fired from St. Clair Pediatrics after the facility found out she was pregnant.

Plaintiff Rylee Lindhorst filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against St. Clair Pediatrics, LLC, citing discrimination in violation of the Illinois Human Rights Act.

According to the lawsuit, Lindhorst was hired by St. Clair Pediatrics to work as a front desk receptionist on Nov. 16, 2022. She claims she was still undergoing job training on Nov. 18 when she told a fellow employee that she was expecting her first child. Lindhorst claims that when she came in to work on the following Monday, the defendant terminated her from her position because they found out she was pregnant.

According to the lawsuit, the Illinois Human Rights Act protects individuals from discrimination because of pregnancy.

Lindhorst claims that as a result of the defendant's discrimination, she has experienced emotional embarrassment, inconvenience, and loss of both back and front pay.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs, attorneys fees and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Edward J. Szewczyk of Pratt & Tobin, P.C. in East Alton.
