BELLEVILLE – A shopper is suing an East St. Louis Family Dollar store after she allegedly tripped over a clothing rack and suffered injuries.

Plaintiff Annie Bell filed the lawsuit in the St. Clair County Circuit Court against Family Dollar, LLC, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Bell was a patron at a Family Dollar store in East St. Louis on May 16, 2022. She claims that while she was shopping, she tripped over a clothing rack that was laying on the floor, causing her to fall and injure herself.

According to Bell, the defendant negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its customers.

Bell alleges she has suffered bodily injuries, which have caused her pain, suffering, and disability. She claims her injuries will impact her ability to enjoy a normal life. Bell adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus interest, court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Jeffrey A. Kopis of Jerome, Salmi & Kopis, LLC in Fairview Heights.
