Wieland employee sues after tripping over straps left on the floor

EDWARDSVILLE – A Wieland employee has filed a negligence lawsuit claiming he was injured after tripping over straps at the East Alton facility. 

Plaintiff Raymond M. Davis filed the lawsuit in the Madison County Circuit Court against Matthew Schrock and Abbot Machine, Co., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, on June 14, 2021, Schrock was an employee of Abbot Machine, Co. He was acting in the scope of his employment when he was on the premises of Wieland in East Alton. The plaintiff alleges straps were left on the floor near the entryway, causing him to trip and fall. As a result, he claims he suffered an injury to his shoulder. 

Davis claims that as a result of Schrock's negligence, he has sustained bodily injuries, which have caused him to experience pain, suffering, disability, lost wages. He claims his injuries will impact his ability to earn income and lead a normal life. He adds that he has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus court costs and any other relief the court deems proper. He is represented in this case by attorney Rodney D. Caffey of The Caffey Law Firm, LLC. in Godfrey
