Alton Memorial Hospital, two other facilities sued for vicarious liability

Madison County resident Cynthia Price is suing Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton Multispecialists Ltd. and Advanced Imagining Consultants LLC, as well as an employee of each of the latter two companies, according to court documents.

Dr. Randall Rogalsky, an employee of Alton Multispecialists, is being sued on one count of medical negligence for failing to properly act in the manner of a well-qualified healthcare provider for carelessly failing to monitor Price's medical progress by not acknowledging multiple X-rays displaying a failed reverse total shoulder arthroplasty with displacement and angulation of the glenosphere, as well as failing to timely provide or recommend revisionary treatment for Price's failed procedure, the documents state.

Dr. Stefan Hamelin, an employee of Advanced Imaging Consultants, is also being sued on one count of medical negligence for acting carelessly in his capacity as a healthcare provider in ways, including failing to recognize signs of a failed right reverse total shoulder arthroplasty in post-operative radiological images; failing to inform Price's physicians, including Rogalsky, of the abnormalities and/or potential complications related to the arthroplasty; and failing to conduct a thorough review of post-operative radiological images, including X-rays, thereby failing to identify clear indicators of a failed arthroplasty, the documents reported.

Due to the aforementioned acts of negligence, Price has reportedly experienced severe, lasting pain, permanent damage and extreme mental distress, according to the documents. She has incurred large medical expenses and is expected to incur more for future treatment.

In addition to the aforementioned counts against the individual defendants, Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton Multispecialists and Advanced Imagining Consultants are each being sued on a count of vicarious liability, the documents reported. Price is seeking financial compensation equal to or greater than $50,000 from each defendant, in addition to any further rewards the court deems appropriate.
